Sometimes, we may feel a bit stranded in life. In fact, I think there’s a moment in everyone’s life when this happens. Some people are to be admired, since they knew since they were very little who they wanted to be as grownups. The determination of these people is just admirable. Also, they are blesses, since being born with a plan in their minds is something to be thankful about. However, other people, like me, weren’t born with a vocation, and so we need to explore and figure things out little by little. This takes years and can be stressful, but I believe it will be worth it in the end. Besides, this helps you get to know yourself better, and experience more things, since you are in a constant pursue of happiness.
One characteristic of us is that we love travelling. Being on the road makes us feel we still have a lot to explore, a lot that we still haven’t seen. Every human being need to feel hopeful, and this is the way to go for us. Exploring cultures, meeting new people, finding the beauty on things that are different, are some of the things that make us feel alive. This is how our personalities shape.
Another thing we love doing is learning languages, for the above mentioned reasons. Not only do languages help us explore more when travelling, but also they make us feel closer and closer with the culture we are discovering. For instance, when taking Chinese classes Miami people know that the only way for them to truly understand the Chinese culture is by knowing the language. Remember that a language cannot be separated from its culture.
We study languages because we care about the rest of the world, because we have curious minds, because we want to be better people, making the most of ourselves. A language is the perfect example of how education frees your mind. We become independent when we are given the tools to get around by ourselves. While taking French lessons Vancouver students not only learn how to speak French, they also open up their minds to a new way of thinking (a new language means a new mind structure) and get to know themselves better. Perhaps this has to do with comparisons, we learn about ourselves when we have something else to be compared to.
Whoever you may be, or want to become, a language will be more than useful in your life.
