Antique Maps of the United States – Indian Territory Maps CD

Over 75+ rare and antique maps of Indian Territories that provide an absorbing study of Red Indian history.
The maps in this historic CD recount the heydays of native Americans, when they ruled over territories that they could proudly call their own.

This CD features maps of the United States drawn in the 18th and 19th centuries with special emphasis on territories that were the domains of native Red Indian Tribes such as the Cherokee, Catawba, Muskogee and Black Feet. Most of the 76 colorful maps are hand painted by master cartographers before the 1870s and are brimming with details of physical features and other geographical detail. You can browse the contents of each map by clicking on the index and on the map of your interest on the thumbnail sketches. Textual contents on each map furnish relevant information about the period, location and historic significance of the map.
Each of the 76 maps you will find in this CD is loaded with information about the territory. Hand drawn and painted to perfection, these maps can be studied in great detail by zooming in on areas of interest.
It isn’t the easiest of tasks to locate so many thematic maps in libraries. The fact that this CD contains no less than 76 antique maps of Indian territories makes this a rare and priceless treasure and a true collector’s item.

The summary pages from the different comic dealers are very helpful each year. I especially enjoyed and learned from the section at the end of the guide also, which was a very detailed report about the many variant comics that are around.Jon Martin McClure updated his earlier research in an efficient, informative, and enjoyable writing style. This, for me, was one of the best guides ever.

I got my first Overstreet in 1978 and have been an avid fan since then of Bob Overstreet’s wonderful guide to comics. Basically, this book is like the textbook of Comics 101 and you should study it cover to cover, every day for 365 days (or until the next volume comes out) and you will ALWAYS find something to learn. Covering comics in all forms from the Victorian Age to the Modern Age, the guide puts the most amount of info on each page so as to be informative but not confusing. My one qualm – the paper tends to tear if you grip it to strongly, but that doesn’t happen often. You would do well to purchase this for the wonderful guide to understanding comic fandom as well as the variants that are out there in the comic world. GREAT STUFF!!

Overstreet has a great history, but if you want something fresh check out Comics Shop, a new full color price guide. It features 3,000 color images and series overviews. And it’s also $5 less than Overstreet. I picked up Comics Shop and am really pleased.

I would have given this guide 5 stars if it wasn’t so hard to use at times. Some comics are listed by publisher while others are listed by name. Over a quarter of this book is ads and I did feel slightly cheated that this was the case when there are so many independant comics I can’t find listed. There are no prices given in case of signatures on the comics, which makes pricing them difficult. We have comics signed by the writers and artists as well as the creators of the characters. Not knowing what the signatures are worth is frustrating. Otherwise, this guide has been very useful in cataloging our collection.
